There are always a lot of people who want to make a little extra money. They don’t want to switch jobs, or get a second job, but would like to bring a little extra money each month.
This is why I am going to start the October Challenge. I am going to include any income earned by surveys, mystery shopping, etc, and I will add them up as we go, and see how well I can do in one month, if I really try.
Honestly, I get so many survey requests a day, I ignore many of them…but for October I will do as many as time permits in my schedule. I will share all of my sources so that you too can do the same thing. And we’ll see at the end of the month, how much “extra” money I can make.

One of the biggest expenses in a household after rent/mortgage, and healthcare costs, is food. Between going out to eat, and buying food to cook, it can add up. By trying new recipes, you’ll be less tempted to go out to eat, and you’ll still be able to make some of the same dishes that you like from your favorite restaurants. Plus, this way you won’t have to pay for a bunch of new cookbooks! Here are a few websites that you can use to get many free, great recipes to try tonight.

Hopefully you will be able to find some great new recipes to try, like we have!

It’s really funny, because I really don’t enter that many online contests. But…today, UPS delivered a 10 piece set of Back To Basics by Graham Webb.
Back to Basics Firm Hold Gel ($10.95)
Back to Basics Flexible Hold Hair Spray ($11.95)
Back to Basics Bodifying Creme Mousse ($10.95)
Back to Basics Texture Defining Lotion ($9.95)
Back to Basics Citrus Sage Clarifying Shampoo ($9.95)
Back to Basics Raspberry Almond Reparative Shampoo ($9.95)
Back to Basics Raspberry Almond Reparative Conditioner ($10.95)
Back to Basics Sunflower Leave-in Conditioner ($9.95)
Back to Basics Coconut Mango Shower Gel ($8.95)
Back to Basics Vanilla Plum Body Lotion ($8.95)
The funny part is, I have no idea where I won the contest from! I have a vague memory of entering a contest that had to do with these products, but don’t remember specifically where. So now in a little over a week, I’ve won 2 contests. Not bad at all for a few minutes of time!

Last night, I went to Shoprite, and got the following for free:
14 Carolina Rice Packets
3 Zatarains Rice Pilaf
4 Boxes of Shout Stain Remover (about 20 cents each)
4 Boxes of Pop Secret
2 Suave Shampoos
2 Colgate Toothbrushes
I had a lot more coupons for things that would have been free…but of course they were out of stock. I will probably go to Pathmark or Foodtown today or tomorrow to see if I can find anything else, but I have to admit, it’s fun shopping for free!

I just received my 5 piece Norma Kamali prize. Here is what I received:
Convertable Tie-Waist Skirt
All together, they have a retail price of $325. I got them in black. I had a choice between that or red, and figured I would get more use out of it in black. While I’m not sure yet exactly how they will look on me (even though I got a medium it looks huge!), I am still very excited about winning.
So for anyone who thinks that entering a daily contest only one time isn’t even worth it…it turns out you can still win!

I can’t tell you how excited I am. Pathmark announced in their circular that they were going to have triple coupons from Friday September 15th – Thursday September 21st. I was thrilled!
Then, in Friday’s newspaper, Shoprite announced they were going to triple from Friday September 15th – Saturday September 23rd.
THEN, in Saturday’s newspaper, A&P announced that they were going to have triple coupons from Saturday September 16th – Tuesday September 19th.
THEN, in Sunday’s newspaper, Foodtown announced that they were going to have triple coupons from Sunday September 17th – Friday September 22nd.
What exactly does this mean? Well, around here, coupons get doubled. So if I give any of these stores a .75c coupon, it will take $1.50 off of my total bill. With triple coupons, a .75c coupon will take $2.25 off of my bill! This is great, because now many items can be free, or very close to it!
I have already gone to Pathmark on Friday night, and have spent part of the weekend going through all of my coupons. Tomorrow I will be going to Shoprite, and then I’m not sure what else I’ll be going to, but I will definitely be going to a few more stores before the week is out!
I will let everyone know how I did later on this week. But I am so excited! This very rarely happens, so this will be a lot of fun.

Once in a while, I will spend a few minutes entering an online contest. This is very rarely though. Guess what happened? I got a phone call a few minutes ago, and I won one of the Woman’s Day contests! I won a 5 piece Norma Kamali Timeless collection set! It’s supposed to be pieces of clothing that can be worn together and in many different ways so that one piece can really be multiple outfits. I’ll let everyone know when I get it!
Considering I spend maybe 10 minutes a week entering contests, this was very exciting! I’m thinking of adding contests to the Dreamline Savings newsletter so that others can spend just a few minutes and maybe win something as well! Let me know what you think.

I know I am very big on getting the Sunday paper to get all of the coupons I can, but did you know that on certain weeks, I actually go out and get more newspapers?
I get the Sunday paper delivered each week. But when I notice that the coupons are very good (like this week, with 3 sections), I will go to a nearby convenience store and purchase more. I have a store near me that sells the Sunday Star Ledger for .75c each, so I can get 4 copies for $3.00. While it sounds silly to buy multiple newspapers, I now have a total of 5 copies of each coupon. So now if a really good deal comes out, I can get 5 of the item, instead of 1. Since I have been couponing for a while, and know that the coupons for this week were good, it was well worth the $3.00 investment.
If you can get your friends and family to give you their extra coupons, that’s even better!

Now that most schools are back in session, this is a great time to go on vacation (if of course, you or your family are not in school!) I have been looking at prices, and it seems that as of today, the prices of many different hotels are a lot lower then they were last week!
Why you ask? Because last week everyone wanted to go away before the end of the summer, and before everyone went back to school. Now people are getting back into the swing of things at school and work, so less people are traveling. So if you want to save some money and travel, this is a great time to do so!
Since this weekend is Labor Day Weekend, there are a lot of sales going on! This is a great time to use coupons (either in store or online) to make sale prices even lower!
This is another reason it’s great to either get the newspaper, or sign up to be on the mailing list of your favorite stores. This will insure that you get all of their coupons, so you can then use them along with sales to get an even better price then just a sale price alone.
