How to save money on Vacations

March 18th, 2007

One way to save on Vacations is to stay on time-share while you are on vacation. If you do, you will usually get inexpensive rooms, as well as free meals, tickets, or shows, depending on the location of the time-share. I would just note that unless you had planned on purchasing a time-share ahead of time, to make sure you are very good at saying no, as the sellers can be very persuasive. They are basically giving you this very reduced rate along with all the extras to try to sell you a week or two per year for their time share. As long as you don’t mind a 2 hour presentation though, you can get a vacation for a lot less then normal!

We did one in Orlando about 4 years ago. We stayed 6 nights and they didn’t try to sell us on anything until the day before we left. It was a nice suite complete with jacuzzi and it was well worth it.

Here are a few examples:

  • Las Vegas – 3 nights hotel plus Show Tickets – for $199.00, you get 3 nights at the Tuscany Suites and Casino or The Imperial Hotel & Casino (or comparable hotel). You also get your choice of $50 in gaming chips or 2 Show Tickets. The retail value for this package ranges from $226 – $909.
  • Orlando – 5 nights hotel + 2 4-Day Park Hoppers – For $500.00, you get 5 nights at the Wyndham Orlando and International Plaza Resort & Spa (or comparable hotel), plus two 4-day Disney Magic Your Way Tickets with the Park Hopper and No Expiration Date Options (retail value $606.00). You even get a $25.00 dinner certificate to a popular area restaurant such as Chili’s or Macaroni Grill. The retail value for this package ranges from $897 to $1,873

There are many other locations offered at Wyndham Vacation Resorts (such as Hawaii, San Francisco, Branson, and more), we just listed two of the more popular destinations.
