Now that it’s starting to get colder (Parts of NJ/NY even had snow yesterday!), you might be thinking about taking a vacation. The good news is, because of the economy, prices are a LOT lower than you might expect. The price of oil has gone down quite a bit, and since not many people are booking trips right now, companies are really giving great prices as an incentive to get you to travel.
Not sure that the prices are low? Take a look at a cruise that The Travelzoo TravelZoo
had in their Top 20 email today. You can take a 7-night cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line to the Caribbean for just $234.00 per person, and that includes a $50 credit for once you’re on the ship! That’s just incredible. I’ve taken 2 Norwegian cruises before, and while I got a great deal, it was more than double $234.00 per person! You can even get a balcony for under $500 a person. It’s just crazy.
If that wasn’t enough, on American Airlines right now you can book a round-trip ticket to Hawaii starting at just $249. I tried it with airfare from NJ, and where it usually costs over $1,000 per person, going in November would cost just $436.00 per person plus taxes. Not bad right?
This is just a small sampling of the types of deals available now, and assuming nothing changes in the next few months, the deals will either stay as good, or get even better! So if you’re already sick of the cooler weather, it might be time to book that winter vacation, and not have to break the bank!

Looking to go to Disney World or Disneyland in the next few months (through the end of January)?
If so, you might want to take a look at Orbitz. Right now they have a deal where if you book through them, and stay at least 5-nights, you’ll get $150.00 off of your vacation. That’s pretty good, especially considering it can be hard to find discounts to Disney!
The code is ORBDISNEY150, and you’ll need to put that in before you do your search.
I will let you know, until you actually CLICK on a specific vacation, you won’t see the discounted price. When I saw the matrix-results that showed me all my different choices, it pointed out which hotels would give me the discount, so I assumed that the prices reflected the $150.00 off. It did not. Once I clicked on a hotel, it showed the lower price, so be sure you’re looking at the lower price!
I’m already planning on going next September, otherwise I might have taken a second look at this! Hope this helps someone who is planning a trip for the next 3 months. You have until November 23rd to book the trip, so you don’t have to rush too much.

Talk about a lot of deals! There were quite a few deals in the newsletter today, many of them from mall-type stores, although with most you could buy either online or in store.
You might notice that in the newsletter I never use the words coupons, sale, and try to stay away from words like discount, and deal. The problem is whenever I use those words, the emails get flagged as spam (mostly from AOL) and people don’t get their newsletters. So you will see me use almost any other word if I can get away with it, so that people will still get their newsletter!
Here are a few deals that were in the newsletter earlier today:
- Through tomorrow night, you can get 15% off of your order of $100.00 or more or 20% off your order of $150.00 or more at Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic when you use code GETSAVE.You can combine items into one cart from all 3 stores. This includes both regular priced items as well as already reduced items such as the up to 60% off at Old Navy.

- At Aeropostale, if you buy a select Hoodie for $29.99, you’ll get the matching pants for free. They also have 50% off tops, 2 tees for $15.00, and sweaters up to 50% off.
- Now through October 25th, you can get an extra 10% off almost everything at the Kmart website with code OCTOBER10.
- All of these are good through Friday, October 24th at 6pm.com.

On Monday, I posted about how I bought a headset at Circuit City. What I didn’t mention, was that I ended up getting a better deal than I thought I would!
Over the weekend, I ordered the headset, and about 2 hours later went to Circuit City to pick it up. It was within an hour of closing time, and not very busy at all, so we were just going to go pick it up, and continue running a few other errands. Well, we get there, let them know we were there to pick up our purchase, and the person at customer service told us that they didn’t pick it up and bring it in the back, so they would send someone to go get it.
At that point, I was a little upset because what if there was only one or two left, and someone else bought it since it was still on the sales floor? Well, either way…we waited. A few minutes later, the guy came back, and gave it to the customer service representative. By then, she started helping someone else, so she told me to hold on…and I proceeded to wait another 5-10 minutes.
By now I was starting to get frustrated. I was only stopping in for a minute to pick up my purchase (already paid for and everything)…and yet I’d been standing there for over 20 minutes now. So, since I had nothing better do do while I waited, I was reading their signs, one of which is a big sign that says “24-minute pick up. If your purchase isn’t behind the counter and ready for you 24 minutes after you make your purchase, you’ll get a free $24.00 gift card!”
So of course, when she finally got to me, I politely said that it had been more than 24-minutes since I ordered the item, and it wasn’t ready when I got there to pick it up, and per the 24-minute pick up they had, doesn’t that mean I get a free $24.00 gift card?
She had no idea what I was talking about, but found someone else who did. So, I left a few minutes later with my headset (a great deal at $29.99), along with a $24.00 Circuit City gift card! The funny thing was if she just gave it to me after the guy brought it up to her, I wouldn’t have said anything and would have left. I was just so frustrated after her making me wait even longer that I realized I would get a free gift card out of it.
I guess the moral of the story is, pay attention to all of the signs and deals that stores have! If I didn’t notice the sign, I wouldn’t have gotten the free $24.00 gift card that I was entitled to, since they didn’t have the item waiting for me. So I ended up getting an even better deal!

I found a really great deal at Circuit City’s website over the weekend. I was in the market for a headset so that I could talk on Skype, and found the Plantronics Audio 470 USB Headset. It’s normally $49.99, on sale for $29.99. Since I have a Circuit City about 15 minutes away, I ordered it online so that I could pick it up in the store.
I’ve already used it a few times, and really like it! The quality is great, and I can’t believe how inexpensive it was. I’d really recommend it to someone who wants a great headset and doesn’t want to spend a lot of money.
