Barnes & Noble has 30% off selected books in the Dummies series. You know the books they’re talking about. The ones that start “Calculus for Dummies”, or “Crocheting for Dummies” etc. They have them on almost every subject. Well, on top of the 30% off selected books in the series, they have a rebate where you can get $5.00 back for each book you buy.
This means a Dummies book that is originally $19.99 will be $8.99 when all is said and done, so you will end up saving over 50%! The good news is that you can do multiple rebates. The rebate form states that you need to do an individual rebate form for each book, but does not limit the number you can do.
This deal is going on through April 1st.
I would like to mention this though. The name might be a little “off-putting”…but these are definitely great books if you are a beginner in a certain subject. They are thorough, and will help you learn the basics about something. So don’t let the name turn you off.

In the January 18th edition of the Dreamline Savings Newsletter, one of the electronics we had listed was the Sandisk Sansa e250 2GB MP3 Player. I thought it was such a great deal that I bought it myself!
The thing I like best is that it’s not just an mp3 player. It’s an mp3 player, video player, FM tuner, it records voice, it records FM Radio, it is expandable, and more. I absolutely love the size too. It’s so tiny, just about the size of a pack of gum! It makes it very easy to carry around, and if I wanted I could fit it in my pocket.
It’s recertified, but the one I got looks like it’s new (except it does say refurbished on the back.) The price I got it for is still available – $39.99 with free shipping, while the regular price is $199.99. I had ordered it on that Friday, and got it exactly one week later, so I was excited!
Now that I’ve had a few weeks to play with it, I can say I like it even more than I thought I would. It is very easy to use, and holds a lot of music!! I love the fact that I can record on the fly, so if I’m out and think of something I want to make sure I remember, I can record it right then and there with just the click of the button. While the video screen is small (since the whole product is), I don’t know if I’d always want to watch movies on it, but I bet it will come in handy while on a plane!
While I knew it came with an FM Tuner, I really didn’t expect it to be great. I mean, you know how hard it can be to get a good signal even from a good radio, so I didn’t expect much. So I was really surprised when I programmed in my favorite stations, and they all came in perfectly clear! I did not expect that at all.
I will be buying a 4GB micro-SD card so that I can have a total of 6GB of space, but I’m not in a hurry. I’ve already put most of my music on, and still have plenty of room. But it’s great to know that if I want to, I can and won’t have to buy a new system.
It’s funny, because before I bought it, I was really unsure if I would really use it…because I didn’t really NEED an mp3 player, but now that I have it, I’m so happy! I will definitely be using this a lot next month when I go on my vacation!

There are two very good reasons you should always look at your receipts when you get them – both at stores and restaurants.
The first one is fairly obvious. You want to make sure you were charged what you should be. While you were most likely watching when items were rung up, if there are a bunch of items sometimes it can be hard to watch all of them. Plus, you want to make sure that only your items were rung up. Sometimes discounts can come off at the end…and you want to make sure you got those as well!
That isn’t the only reason you should always look at your receipt though. Lately, I have started seeing surveys showing up at the bottom of many of my receipts. While some have a message like “take our survey and enter to win x dollars”, I have seen a lot now stating that they will give you a percentage off your next purchase!
The last time I was at Bath & Body Works, at the bottom of my receipt it said that if I called a phone number and took a survey, I would get $10.00 off my next purchase of $30.00 or more. When I went to Old Navy over the weekend, I got a receipt that said if I did a survey with them in the next 5 days, I would get 10% off my next purchase. I don’t remember what restaurant, but recently I got one there too saying that if I took a survey, I would get a free appetizer the next time I ate there.
I don’t know about you, but I love getting discounts for things I am going to do anyway! It is definitely worth the 2 minutes of my time it takes to do the survey in order to get that discount.
So next time you get a receipt, take a closer look. Don’t only check the numbers, but see if there are any discounts for future purchases as well!

Did you buy a diamond anytime from January 1, 1994 to March 31, 2006? Maybe you bought an engagement ring, wedding ring, or even a diamond solitaire? If so, I have some great news for you!
There is a Diamond Class Action Settlement against DeBeers, and any consumers who bought diamonds between the times stated above are entitled to money back for their purchase. No, you did not have to buy the diamonds from DeBeers. As long as you bought them in this country, you are entitled to be part of the class action suit.
If you are interested in reading more about it, go to the Diamond Class Action Settlement website to read all of the commonly asked questions to see if you qualify, and then you can fill out the forms.
I don’t know about you, but I’m always happy to hear that I can get money back on a purchase that was made a while ago! I got both engaged and married in that time frame, and plan on filling the forms out. While we probably won’t get a lot, anything is better than nothing!

Through January 4th, Szul has a really good deal on a pretty Amethyst and Diamond Pendant. It’s normally $229.00, on sale for $119.00, and is temporarily $69.00. They also have free ground shipping via FedEx.
I have ordered from them before, and they do have nice quality jewelry, and are usually a lot less than other jewelry stores!
